Commissioning Process

Our team of experienced and certified commissioning engineers apply the requirements of ASHRAE Standard 202-2018 “The Commissioning Process for Buildings and Systems”, as well as ASHRAE’s Guideline 0 “The Commissioning Process to the design construction and handover of buildings”. Commissioning management is the organization of all commissioning activities under the umbrella of a commissioning manager or Authority (CxA).

The goal of the Commissioning Process is to enhance the quality of the delivered project by focusing the design and construction team on the Owner’s goals for a functional and energy efficient building. The earlier a Commissioning manager is involved in the project process the greater the chance there is for the Commissioning manager to influence corrections without increased costs later. The process commissioning manager will assemble design review reports from the engineer that shows how the engineer addressed the owner’s project requirements.

Later, during construction the Commissioning manager collects all the field tests performed by the various mechanical contracting trades that show all equipment, pipe, duct, controls, and accessories were installed as specified. Startup reports completed by the contractors show all equipment was started and run in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements are also collected. TAB contractor’s reports are reviewed for accuracy.

During handover, O&M manuals and training information are reviewed for conformance to the specification requirements.

The process is monitored via appropriate documentation, regular meetings and sample verification of the functional performance tests. Our team provides all necessary tools for the proper verification of completion, such as project specific commissioning plan, commissioning matrix and sample checklists.
